Class 07-14-2009

Using a Wikki is new to me. I am not familiar with them. I had fun using the one on PB works. A nice part that I like about it only letting people on that you want and being able to communicate together and not getting confused who knows what info that you want them to know.
Podcast are good for teachers to have because it can help students who were not present or forgot some of the information.

Web site evaluation

While filling out the evaluation form I discovered I liked the form from www.ncsu.edu/midlink/tutorial/WWW.eval. You were able to rank each question 1-4. With a yes and no question it doesn't give enough information about the entire website. The one thing I discovered is that not every web site puts the author on the site. It also made me notice all the ads on one of the sites I picked.
The value of using an evaluation is that it can point out advantages and disadvantages of the website. Knowing the disadvantages can help you to warn others about the disappointing parts of the site.
I don't think you have to use a formal evaluation on every site you look at. Sites that give you information it is probably wise to evaluate, but not one that is just for fun and games.

word processing/spreadsheet

How awsome that you can all look at the same sites and post comments on them and see them quickly. I really liked the switchzoo.com and the national geographic.com/activities. This could be a good way to involve students in learning things that otherwise would be boring to them.

class 6

How fun would it be to have a Skype. You can have a conversation thousands of miles away and still see each other.
I also had fun seeing all of the WebQuests. They must have taken a lot of work to create, but I think if you found the right one it would be a lot of fun in class. I think it would be a good WebQuest is one that teaches technology and allows creativity with the student.
